Sail, Sail, Your Boat!

5th Annual Front Porch Bluegrass Festival & Pig Roast

Donations accepted and all procees to benefit BYG Work Camp, a mission group composed of 6 local area churches that travel to Appalachia every summer to rebuild homes with Applalachia Service Project. This summer, our volunteers will spend a week making many families safer, warmer, and drier through home repairs.

Honoring the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, experience military camp life during the time of the famous battle fought July 1-3, 1863. Watch demonstrations of military drills, tintype photograph, military gear and artifacts. Learn about other aspects of camp life including washing clothes, churning butter, spinning yarn and thread, using drop spindles and spinning wheels, knitting and crocheting mittens and scarves for the soldiers, as well as other tasks.

Morris County 4-H Fair

Location: Chubb Park, West Main Street, Chester, NJ
The annual 4-H Fair will be held at Chubb Park, July 18-21. The Fair will open Thursday from 5:00pm-9:30pm, Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The 4-H Fair is a showcase and celebration of the achievements of 4-Hers around the county. It is great opportunity for all in the community to come out for wholesome family fun,” said Rachel Lyons, Morris County 4-H Agent.
Maps and schedules of daily events such as dog and small animal shows are available in the Information Tent. The Exhibit Tent is packed with homemade fair entries, informational displays and hands-on activities for visitors. The Entertainment Tent is filled with live musical performances and interactive demonstrations. Other 4-H tents house a variety of animals including dogs, herpetology, poultry, rabbits and small animals. Most animal tents have a petting area and information about how to join 4-H.
A whole host of fun activities are lined up for this weekend. Pony rides, hay rides, a petting zoo, a model airplane demonstration, clown acts, watermelon eating and cake decorating contests, dress-a-pet contest, a children’s pet show and, of course, amusement rides are all some of the usual favorites
The popular Tricky Tray will once again be the highlight of Saturday evening. The Tricky Tray allows everyone the chance to win a donated gift. Prizes can include anything from a healthful gift basket to a bicycle. Non-profit organizations will be on hand to sell everything from tasty treats to full meals. Fairgoers can enjoy traditional fair food and even a cold root beer float or the famous 4-H Chicken BBQ dinner.
The Fair is sponsored by the Morris County 4-H Association in support of the 4-H Youth Development Program of Rutgers Cooperative Extension. 4-H Members, volunteer Fair Managers, 4-H Club Leaders and parents work together to make this a major event in Morris County.
All Morris County residents are invited to visit the 4-H Fair, serve as a volunteer at the Fair or participate in many of the activities and contests open to the public. Come out and enjoy the "country-fair" atmosphere, great entertainment, good food, and informative, educational demonstrations.

Children's Blueberry Muffin Baking

Participants will tour the gristmill and see how flour was made from grain in the 1880's. They will learn how to use the flour to make delicious blueberry muffins. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Picture Perfect Natural Art

1890's Music Day at Milltown

Oliver Evans was a famous inventor of the 1780's who created the first automatic flour mill, the first high pressure steam engine, an amphibious vehicle, and much more. See Cooper Gristmill's operational rendition of his gristmill, a collection of pictures of other mills, and antique printed flour bags. This event is at the Cooper Gristmill.

They are five guys who grew up together in the Wayne, New Jersey area and caught "the Bug" way back in High School... and they have been playing Classic Rock from the 60's-70's & 80's together ever since! SLICK may have their roots 30 years back, but this band plays like the tunes are as fresh as the day they were released.
