The Story of NJ MIlitia Regiment in the American Revolution

Most people are unaware of the intensity of the American Revolution in New Jersey and how militia service influenced the daily lives of people from the beginning to the end of the Revolution. Larry Kidder will talk about his book, "A People Harassed and Exhausted: The Story of a New Jersey Militia Regiment in the American Revolution" which tells the story of the American Revolution from the point of view of the First Hunterdon Militia Regiment and their families. 26th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Chester

Location: Gazebo / Municipal Field on Main Street in Chester, NJ

Annual Chester Tree Lighting is celebrating 27 years of lighting up the town and marking the official start of the holiday season.

The event is planned for Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Gazebo on Main St. All are invited to arrive at 5pm for the start of the program which includes musical entertainment by the West Morris Mendham Concert Band and The Treble Makers.

Individual visits with Santa and sharing of holiday wish lists. Mrs. Claus will read the children a special Christmas Story

There will be refreshments provided by Maria's Coffee Shop for all to enjoy and plenty of good cheer.
These activities are sponsored by Chester Recreation with gratitude to the Chester Garden Club for running the event for 26 years. This is an evening of fun for all ages, not just those with little ones! Please come out and join your neighbors for a special way to start the holiday season.
